For one thing, it was said in spoilers late last year that Bridget would become a psycho. Her latching onto Nick and his son and her threatning Katie is certainly looking that way.
Also, look who her parents are. Two people who act not on logic but on their own selfishness. Eric is having sex with a woman who was not long ago was involved with his son and we know Brooke's past including having sex with Bridget's husbant. I blame Brooke more than Eric though.
So this storyline should be interesting as it plays out especially since Nick does not really love her but loves having sex with her and with his being intriged with Katie.
