Cassadine TNG Ch 19

It had hit TMZ on Sunday afternoon within half an hour of the wedding. The other television tabloids were on top of it by Monday thanks to the confirmation on the Mayday website. Thanks to the band being split up the paps are also split between the Bellagio– for the Estrogen Mafia and their men, The Palms– for the balance of Mayday and The Mandalay Bay– for the first pictures of the Honeymooning couple. Instead of creating an issue for one hotel they have involved three. And the hotel casinos are public places. As long as the paps weren’t going up they were totally covered.

“Of course we couldn’t say anything before the reception at 4pm yesterday.” The counter person from Freed’s tells one of the reporters. “We were happy to be able to fulfill the wishes of the couple. It was a chocolate cake with raspberry ganache filling and butter cream frosting. Because both the bride and groom are musicians we did want to incorporate their love of music with their day. It was a very classy traditionally decorated cake with a few additions.” The clerk shows an 8x10 picture of the elegant but small three tier cake. There are the usual flowers and trims but instead of a couple on the top of the cake is model piano and cello. “In addition to the wedding cake, the gentleman placing the order also ordered a coordinated sheet cake for 200 to be delivered to the restaurant so that everyone there when they cut the cake got to have a piece.”

----------------------------------------

At the restaurant, a waitress is setting tables which isn’t exactly easy with a microphone in her face. “It’s normally our slow time between lunch and dinner service. Chandy Radcliffe and Kristina Ashton really know their stuff. They knew exactly when this place would be as close to empty as it ever seems to get. Did our 4pm seating and then shut the doors to a private party.”

“So they weren’t invited guests.”

“Wedding party was maybe 20 only– just the band, the parents and a few friends.” The waitress shrugs. “But there was cake and champagne for everyone here. I think it was as good as winning a jackpot for some of our guests. Something to tell the grandkids.”

“Good tippers?”

“I wouldn’t have said that Chandy Radcliffe and Kristina Ashton knew their business if they weren’t.”

----------------------------------------

Across town one of the more unscrupulous paps who happens to know who the house photographer is for the Mandalay Bay is breaking into the guy’s photo lab.

----------------------------------------

“The service the couple selected was our Alluring Breeze ceremony. They were particularly interested in our live webcast of the nuptials for their family and friends who could not be here. They did make some changes of course. Because of the hour of the nuptials they decided to have a the dinner reception at one of our more casual venues rather than the Fleur de lys. And while our house pianist did provide the bulk of the music, the other members of Mayday did want to perform a song at the happy couple’s wedding.”

“Is it true that the drummer of the band actually picked the Mandalay Bay because the chapel doesn’t look like the marshmallow man exploded in there?”

The dark suited woman perceptively winces and then smiles bravely. “I do believe that was mentioned.”

“Stanley singing has already made it onto the web including You Tube. Any chance that is going to be added to your menu of offered songs?”

“It that is what the couple wants then we will definitely try to accommodate them.”

----------------------------------------

In the spa over at the Bellagio, “Oh the band totally knew before the bride and the groom. Stanley knew before the bride and groom. He was out checking out hotel wedding chapels before George ever popped the question. They were just waiting for the word so that they could actually spring into action. I’m telling you if you want to get married in 24 hours just send out a Mayday.” The Masseuse puns not knowing that she has just given the reporter the headline.

“Has anyone seen the bride and groom since the wedding?”

“Nobody has seen anybody. Nothing says romance like a wedding I swear. All the couples are off coupling I’m sure. They’ll probably come up for air tomorrow. The only real question is where are Stan, John and Will? They’re the ones that came to the wedding without a date.”

----------------------------------------

“Because of the time constraints, the Groom did pick from our beautiful available selection.” The jeweler at Leon in the Mandalay Bay tells the reporter while running an expansive hand over the case that shows a wide variety of gorgeous engagement rings and wedding sets. “The bride and groom picked the wedding set together. I believe they came in right after the show at the House of Blues. In addition to the wedding set they also selected broaches like these for the mothers of the bride and groom, and these diamond stick pins for the fathers. We did stay late making sure that the rings were properly sized and engraved so they’d be available to the couple the next morning when we opened.”

“The best man pick them up?”

“Actually no. The owner of the groom’s record label picked them up for the couple. She handled all the details with the hotel about the reception. It also ensured that the groom did not see the bride after midnight the day of their wedding.”

----------------------------------------

Did the keyboard player for Mayday, winner of last year’s best new artist, while in the midst of a world tour marry his longtime girlfriend? This one is soooo true. The band’s website confirms the nuptials in Las Vegas Sunday afternoon. The wedding happened with about 24 hours notice. The groom didn’t even propose until Saturday and then the SOS went out to Mayday who sprung into action to support their band mate. Their label flew in the bride and parents who arrived in time to see the Mayday show at the House of Blues on Saturday night. The couple married at the Mandalay Bay and had their wedding reception at one of the more casual restaurants in the casino– much to the delight of unsuspecting restaurant patrons who were treated to champagne and cake to toast the happy couple. Fancy clicks off the television. “Wow that was fast. I knew they were going to have something because the paps were already over at Uncle Dillon’s house before we even left.”

Stefan nods. “Because of the swiftness of the nuptials, there were too many people involved for absolute security. They were very lucky that the wedding itself was not compromised. It was a certainty there would be a leak to the press. I must commend the speed with which Ms Hart deflected the press while taking advantage of the band’s performance.”

“Twink said Alecia was fuming at the Boston party. She had no idea Mayday was going to perform at the wedding. She knew as soon as she saw it, it was going to kick up a fuss because it was so different from what Chandy and the guys normally do.”

“And yet it appeared seamless.” Stefan eyes Fancy. “You are amused by something?”

“It was Stanley, Uncle Stefan. He’s the one getting things done. Oh I know he dropped it in Chandy and Baby’s laps but he was the one who gave them a heads up. We were talking about this happening Saturday morning when he called. He knew before George did that he was going to propose– it gave everyone else a head start on making sure they could have the plane ready to pick everyone up, that the prenups were already printed out and ready to go.” With that Fancy picks up her collective works of Edward Albee 1966-1977 and heads off to her room to read.

----------------------------------------

At the breakfast nook, Baba cranes her head awkwardly to see the text of the email that she’d received from one of her students at UCLA. She hadn’t been able to get over to the campus today with all the press surrounding the house wanting a statement on George getting married. There was enough press about Fancy and Stanley that she’d definitely been on the list. In fact it had been one of the questions the night before at halftime of the basketball game. Fancy had deflected by referring the reporter back to Jerrome Edwards who had also been at the party but had left to get ready for the night’s contest.

Stefan walks into the room and without saying a word adjusts the screen portion of Mrs Koslov’s laptop.

“Much better. Much better.” Baba mutters but she keeps on typing. She’s on her last one and she tries to always reply to her emails on the same day she gets them. So the children would know she was paying attention. But her attention is draw to Stefan-- first his hand holding out a shot of vodka and then his face. She hits send and then closing the computer takes the shot. “That good, eh? What happen now?”

“Tell me about Stanley.” Stefan demands.

“You know Stanley.” Baba tosses back the shot. “He friend of Baby’s since back in high school.”

“So he’s too old be calling Faith on Saturday mornings while she’s out at the Farmer’s Market with you.” Stefan makes it sound like an accusation like something that Fancy and Baba are attempting to hide from him.

Baba pshaws his concern. “Stanley call all the time. He email too. He stayed the night the last time Mayday in town. He pick out Fancy’s car.”

“He stayed the night.” Stefan’s tone is glacial.

Frankie truly must be psychic. He arrives just in time to hear the last two statements. “Yeah, out at my place playing video games. He’s got an agreement with Baby and Fancy both-- hands off until she’s 18 but I thought the spare room was a very bad idea. Perimeter is secure, Baba.”

“Good Boy. Get a glass and sit down. One will help you sleep.”

“One will put me out.” Frankie agrees. He goes over to the cupboard and pulls out a glass and coming over to the table puts it by Baba who pours him a healthy one. He leans back against the counter. He might drink with Stefan Cassadine but he is not going to sit down at a table with the guy. It would make both of them too uncomfortable. “I think Mr Cassadine has a good point, Baba. It’ll be better once Mayday is playing their dates overseas. If Stanley is going to do something stupid it’s going to be in the next couple of weeks. Thanks to George, the guy has marriage on the brain.”

“Fancy too smart for all of you.” Baba declares.

“Yeah, the kid is scary smart, Baba.” Frankie agrees. “But she’s also a teenager and I saw the look on her face when Stanley was singing at the wedding. She was treating him like a puppy before but I think that’s over. Fancy starts looking back at Stanley and we’re in trouble.”

“Stanley is a good boy.” Baba shakes her head. “His mother, now she is a witch, but everyone likes Stanley. He good for Fancy. Like Zander for Tasha.”

Stefan winces at that. “She is too young.” He declares as his baseline. All other decisions would be made with that premise.

“I’ll have a talk with Stanley when he shows up.” Frankie nods.

Baba rolls her eyes. “Fine. I remind Fancy of her career here in Los Angeles.”

“And I will ensure that any international travel is where Mayday is not.” Stefan nods. “We will revisit this situation after the tour.” He finishes his drink and rising from the table leaves.

Baba mutters something in Russian.

It’s said enough that Frankie knows what she said. “Yeah, that may be true but just cause he’s got a stick up his butt doesn’t mean he isn’t right, Baba. I’m a guy. You have to trust me on this. The best thing for Fancy right now would be for Mayday to be on tour 3000 miles away. It’s not going to stop the calls or the emails– I like Stanley too. I think Fancy leads him around like he’s got a ring in his nose but he’s a good guy. She’s done a hell of a lot worse.”

“That one doesn’t count. She was a baby.”

“She still is. I’m just going to remind Stanley same rules apply– 18 and hands off.”

I’m thinking of getting a tattoo. Right over my heart.

What’s it going to be? Fancy instant messengers back.

Don’t know exactly yet.. But it’s going to say Tickle my Fancy.

Stanley, you can’t get a tattoo with my name on it.

Sure, I can.

Stanley, don’t you think we should like date or something before you get me inked on your body? What if you decide you hate me or something? Then you’re going to have to get a car, cat or dog named Fancy... or laser surgery which from what I hear hurts a lot. You get a tattoo and Chandy will so kick my ass.

Chandy just doesn’t want us to get hurt. She’ll come around.

Yeah, when I’m 18 and she isn’t afraid you’re going to end up in jail. When are you going to be in LA?

Wednesday. Going to be getting everything together for the world tour. Work everything though make sure there are no glitches.

I saw the list of dates and venues on the website. This is going to be huge, Stan.

Yeah, Alecia calls it a tipping point. Taking it to the next level. If the tour goes well then we’ll be able to take a little time off and get the next album done.

Thirty dates from Seoul to Mexico City. You guys will be sleeping when you get back to Boston.

No doubt. There is going to be a bit of a break in Perth, Karin’s lined us up with some homestyle type stuff.

You’re going to have to do a blog. That way I can check on you guys.

What are the chances of you meeting up on the tour... maybe when we do Athens?

LOL– right.

Yeah, that’s what I figured.

I have to go. I have at least two hours more of reading and 6am comes too early. I’ll see you Wednesday.

TTYL. Stanley signs off. And Faith does the same.

In Port Charles, Mouse prints off a copy of the transcript– shaking his head all along. This one is going to be a mess. But if it doesn’t go to hell in the next week then they’ll have a probable reprieve for 3 months to give a cooling off period.

Only one more chapter after this one... at least as far as Cassadine TNG. What y'all think?
