This wedding stuff was great acting material for Maurice and he was outstanding. From an actor's viewpoint, it was a wonderful opportunity. From the viewpoint of a lot of Sonny fans, it was a mixed bag.
Sonny for the first time in a long time was clearly the victim in all this. He was written to be naively blinded by his love all through the pre-wedding writing which was already hard to watch.
Next we see him finally happy, supportive, looking forward to the future, completely blindsided by the wedding events and emergence of Connie.
Overkill, definitely, on Connie's part since she had two full days to totally insult, verbally attack and humiliate Sonny in front of his children and friends. To call a man a murderous pig in front of his kids is just nasty.
Sonny, while written to be supportive and loyal to Kate, looked helpless and shaken. The one plus was his undying desire to get help for Kate. But what Sonny and his fans got from yet another spoiled wedding, was a giant slap in the face when not only was Sonny verbally humiliated, but Connie was paired with Sonny's enemy who took advantage of Kate.
Some think a wonderful transformation of love and acceptance by Connie is coming. Too little too late. This wedding leaves a sour taste that a smile and Sonny hug from Connie is not going to cure.
They need to shorten the Johnny/Connie crap and get help for a mentally disturbed woman whether it be Connie or Kate.
Meanwhile Sonny, while quietly trying to get help for Kate, needs to get on with his life and get more interaction with other PC people. Sexis, Dante, that's what we need more of.
