The theory that Connie is doing this and hating Sonny because he was responsible for Connie being hurt in the past are flawed. Sonny was out of the mob when Kate was shot. AZ was trying to lure him back in by shooting Kate who was under Jason's protection along with Sonny.
Secondly the rape was totally on Kate and Joe Jr. Sonny had no idea Joe was planning to rape Kate. But making even less sense is Connie turning to Johnny and marrying him. Viewer's have not forgotten who shot Kate, all the foul things like using Kristina to get back at Sonny, that Johnny has done as well as who agreed to the shooting that left Michael in a coma. Johnny makes no sense in this at all except for plot point purposes.
