I am sorry but many of us know exactly why Sonny did it and were never worried for Connie's safety. We know he had no intention of harming Connie because she is KATE.
So no, we don't know he wouldn't have harmed her intentionally or unintentionally because he's the one controlling everything. People don't just get to do what they want and make their own rules as they see fit. Maybe in Sonny's mob world, but Connie isn't a part of that world.
