contract like L&L and VM and were unknowns at the time. The newbies hired IMO are pretty pointless outside of NuKristina. Also, in the old days decades ago most actors hired didn't want to stay more than 1 contract & just used being on a soap as a steppingstone to primetime and films. You always had some lifers but most would voluntarily leave at the end of their 1st contract.
However, GH has a bloated cast & they need to shed about 6-10 characters IMO. You can't just keep on bringing on people when you're not making cuts. There is around 38 minutes of actual show per hour so you only focus on so many characters and RC has a severe lack of integration of cast members across storylines.
