don't think that they have that much time to wrap all that up. However, they could have been told that it would end next August and that would have give them enough time to do that.
Sadly if it falls out like you predict I don't want to watch the end of it since IMO it will be a travesty of GH and more about OLTL a show that I couldn't stand in its last years on the air and couldn't stand to watch anymore mainly due to RC/FV.
I would be surprised if GH lasts longer than next August but I don't know if ABC will replace it right before May Sweeps.
