Although, Rachel Ames who play Audrey should be seen every once and awhile, as she's about as close to an original cast member you can get.
However, I think what you are referring are those long term characters who have been with the show continuously versus those characters created in the 80's or 90's who have been gone for years and recently returned.
And to me, I don't think that characters like Heather and Lucy should be getting storylines before the veteran characters who have been with the show continously. I wouldn't care so much about the 25 million different returns if the existing cast of characters were all being used appropriately, and if the returns provided storyline for the existing cast of characters. And none of that has happened.
