When I started watching Jess is explaining that she knew that something wasn't right about Todd's behavior. It fit the plot so the history changed.
THAT is the story I wanted.
How did Todd get past his family accepting the things done in his name? How did he forgive them? How did he feel about his own actions that lef them to believe he could do those other things?
How did Todd's family deal with their guilt for not knowing while Todd was tortured? How did they separate out their feelings for Todd from their feelings for Victor? How did they cope with being Irene's victims themselves?
