I've tried really hard to educate myself on what is happening there and follow daily updates. Romney/Ryan want to give arms to the rebels especially because Assad is aligned with Russia and Iran - who the rebels and others believe are giving arms to Assad - which is probably true. HOWEVER, analysts and experts are seeing more and more signs that jihadists from Iraq coming infiltrating the rebels and taking up arms with them - one of the signs is the number of suicide bombers lately. They also believe many of these jihadists are al qaeda fighters. Soooo, if we give arms, actual guns and weapons guess who is getting them? Yes, Al Qaeda. Haven't we done this before in Afghanistan?
I'm not sure what side we should be on, or what we should do exactly - but we CANNOT give the rebels weapons and we need to stand with the rest of the world as one.
