Older people, if they aren't turned off by the recent comments about turning Medicare into a voucher program at a later date, tend to vote for GOP candidates.
The new early voters who would be voting during the window collapsed by the storm, and who would have to be willing to stand in lines for two to six hours, tend to be younger and more likely to vote for Pres Obama/Democrats. Those people can't vote now because of the storm, evacuations and power loss.
Voting day is going to be a mess on the east coast, possibly as far as the Ohio Valley, depending on how much mayhem Sandy causes.
As far as I know, there's no constitutional provision for weather extensions for voting or do overs.
