pissed me the hell off, but for every CNN or MSN, there's been internet meme, rallys, poll, op-ed and voter registration effort that have made me get a spring back in my step.
And when it comes to the media itself, I realize everyone takes their turn. This week it's almost a lovefest for Obama and a pile-on for Mitt, and I forget that this is the EXACT same trajectory the last election took.
In 2008, I went on such extremes:
-the division in the democratic primaries - feeling like I was breaking up with bill and hill (this year, feeling like dems were split between disillusioned and optimistic)
- euphoria in the Democratic Convention (complete ditto this year)
- overall positive effect at the debates, but a little concerned over Palin's aggression (Mitt's aggression scared the crap out of me, but fortunately, Obama and Biden shut it it down and took 3 out of 4)
-the HATE HATE HATE toward Palin and exploitation of the female vote, race baiting (I have come to loathe Mitt more because he doesn't even stand for anything, and his lies are so hate-inducing).
- the media pumping out the fear, the race issue. is america ready? could we actually elect Obama? Was he ready? Could he take the call? Could he connect? It was all about character then. (Now it's about getting his record out there and rebuking the narrative that his first term was a fail. AAAAAAAAAAA. It's been infinitely more frustrating this time around).
- and then came the financial collapse as the "october surprise" and Obama rising to the occasion, adding value, being substantive, while McBain was more out-of-touch and eventually obsolete (do I even have to say anything now? a freaking Republican heavyweight might as well give Obama a full mouth kiss, lol).
In 2008, I was downright giddy election day. This year it's a bit more sober, a bit more critical, but I'm still so positive and happy to have our President.
