One possible point in my favor is that I'm a metadata librarian, meaning I work with data management and knowledge management. Those are potentially marketable skills. And I work with serials, which is considered the most complex metadata work with libraries. There aren't many of us.
I NEVER wanted to think about anything like this. I thought, when I got the position I'm currently in, that I could stay until I retire, which is not anywhere in sight, lol. I'm in a good ladder position, I have a skill that is not easy to replace in this profession, I work at the library that all librarians dream about working in. I make a salary that I could not make at a public or academic library, and I believed I had very serious job security. But Trump has no norms and no boundaries, and he's surrounding himself with people who are even worse. There's no consideration in this deranged plan to the devastating impact to the economy if you get rid of so many federal employees, that would trickle into ALL aspects of the economy, on top of grinding the country to a halt. People think we're useless and they don't need us - until they don't HAVE us. But by the time the public at large realized that, it would be too late.
