Instead, he waited until the Republican ticket was set so the Dems have time to figure out the right ticket to go against their locked in stone ticket. We know what, if any, "bump" he got from the convention, who's turned on and who's turned off by it, and how people are feeling about the VP pick. Room to make a strategic decision.
