People need affordable housing and hedge funds want profitable investments. In related news, here in NYC, we had to crackdown on companies like Airbnb because (a) too much housing was being bought up by investors to use as airbnbs and (2) it created transient “neighbors” where there should be communities. In NYC, homes cannot be rented via services like Airbnb for less than 30 days.
