night for him. There was a lot of love and respect for him in that arena tonight. But, obviously, it was a very different night than he originally anticipated. It’s a hard thing for anyone who loves their job to admit that they are “too damn old” to keep doing it. I thought he passed the torch with a lot of grace. Ultimately, he did put country above his own ego. And he used the word “we” a lot in his speech, sharing his accomplishments. As I said, he will go down in history as a very good POTUS. As a man and human being, personally, he’s right up there with Jimmy Carter for me.
Trump would never, in a million years, have passed the torch like Biden did tonight. Trump’s ego and self-interest always prevails. Trump doesn’t even know the word “we”. All he knows is “I, me, I, me”. And Trump certainly never would have chosen one of his primary opponents as his VP running mate. Nope. Any competitor of Trump’s becomes his enemy for life.
Overall, tonight made me feel hopeful.
ETA that I think the lovefest for President Biden tonight was a good strategy, highlighting party unity rather than new blood vs old guard.
