blistering speech, and the Democrats continuing their streak of getting value out of the roll call. My brother is on a four day hike in BC right now and I sent him the clip of Lil' Jon just like "you cannot miss this."
I was also watching this and thinking about how powerful the appearance of being cool is in politics. Like whatever we might personally think of him, to people who love Trump, he came off as cool in 2016. They loved what he was doing. They thought he was funny and smooth and knew how to put the other side in their place. WE might not agree, but that vibe was there.
It's really switched right now. The Democrats absolutely believe they are the ones with cool on their side. They have all the excitement. They have the flashy convention moments. They have the jokes and the chants and the sick burns. And Trump, whatever else is going on right now, is not coming off as cool. "He said 'no way' and I said 'way'" SOUNDS like something Seth Meyers would say to make fun of him. It's just palpable.
