regardless of the many different reasons individuals choose to vote early, the overall result of early voting is that it makes it easier for many people to vote. It eliminates some common barriers to voting.

I do like Election Day traditions though like you and your dad have. For some of us who vote early or by mail, Election Day traditions take place while watching the results together.
