They can choose to stay or resign. They have until February 6 to decide. The buyout package is roughly 8 months of salary/benefits. If they choose to stay, there is no guarantee that their job or agency will continue to exist. Wow. Musk did something similar to Twitter employees when he bought Twitter. I feel so bad for all federal employees, especially those who are mid-career.
