There's a lot of indication that Trump expected Canada to just roll over. I knew this on some level, but the last two weeks have really demonstrated how little Americans understand Canada (this is generally, not specifically) because they don't seem to have expected us to have national pride or feel we have a way of life to protect. And because of that he was unprepared for the fact that this has done actual damage -- to the economy, to your international reputation and to your relationship with Canada. I don't know how it goes back to what it was before. Even if the trade dispute goes away, a lot of people are going to continue the boycott.
