Tariffs do not save your average domestic consumer any money. OBVIOUSLY. Tariffs COST money. Generally, their intended purpose is to reduce wage inequality by protecting domestic manufacturing and/or to protest unfair trade practices. That's all well and good, except tariffing the **** out of Canada helps us in no way, shape, or form. It's not going to create American jobs nearly as much as it's going to cost them, and we didn't HAVE an unfair trade situation with Canada. We're just pissing off our closest ally for absolutely no coherent reason I have ever heard described. It's like Trump had the understanding of a drunk toddler when it came to tariffs. Which tracks, that's generally about how well he understands anything. That'd be funny if so ****ing many of us weren't so ****ing stupid as to BELIEVE him.
