of us had one moment of considering keeping it. We sold it six months after inheriting it, strategically waiting until after hurricane season and the holidays and also so we wouldn’t appear desperate to sell it asap.
I had to go to FL a lot over the years for family visits and more frequently during my mom’s last few years. And, for numerous reasons, Florida kept becoming a worse place to live. The cost of living isn’t inexpensive anymore but the politics and the population those politics attracts are horrendous.
If I was forced to live in FL, I’m sure I would have found some kindred spirits. But I also probably would have been killed in some bar when I saw something and said something to some racist who happened to have a gun on him.
