I saw this today...kinda sucks
Let the bells ring. Let the word go out across this great land of ours. The long national nightmare is over. There’s finally a new person to take over the Food Network franchise of “Dinner Impossible” from disgraced chef Robert Irvine.
From the Food Network press release:
Food Network’s newest Iron Chef, Michael Symon, is ready for his next challenge—becoming the host of popular primetime series “Dinner: Impossible.” Production begins this week with Symon at the helm of 10 new episodes, putting both his culinary and time management skills to the test. New episodes of the series, which airs Wednesdays at 10pm ET/PT, will begin airing this summer. The show will also adopt a new hour-long format.
On “Dinner: Impossible,” Symon will be challenged to overcome culinary obstacles and deliver a delicious meal before his time runs out. Each week, Symon (with the help of his sous-chefs) will be thrown a new culinary curveball and the team must figure out a way to solve their challenge before time runs out. With all new challenges, and a fresh perspective from this motorcycle riding, fun-loving chef, viewers will see if Symon can make dinner possible!
Renowned in the culinary world and adored in his hometown of Cleveland, Michael Symon is the chef and owner at the critically acclaimed Lola and Lolita restaurants in Cleveland. A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Michael was named as one of the Ten Best New Chefs in America by Food & Wine (1998). In 2007, he competed on The Next Iron Chef and won, securing his place as a permanent Iron Chef on Food Network’s hit series “Iron Chef: America.” Symon likes to unwind from his frenetic schedule with a zip on either of his dual vintage Harleys along the back streets of Cleveland.
Symon writes about the news on his blog Symon Says and throws another juicy nugget into the pan:
As some of you may have read we made the announcement today that I will be taking over as host of Dinner Impossible. I am super stoked to take over this show as it is a proven format and I love a good challenge. To make it even more exciting DI will be going to a one hour format and I will have a bunch of my close friends as sous chefs, which should make the show very entertaining and fun.
We have also announced that we will be opening a restaurant for Starwood Hotels in Detroit at the Historic Book Cadillac which will be called Roast. It will feature all that is meat. Including a wood fired rotisserie with suckling pigs, baby goats and spring lamb. We will also feature a large amount of prime dry aged steaks and a array of house made sausages and cured meats. This is a concept I have been working on for quite awhile and feel it will fit Detroit like a glove.
God I love Mondays…

So, what happens to Robert Irvine?
Us Magazine tracked him down:
In February, news broke that Irvine misrepresented certain aspects of his background, including working with the British royal family and being knighted.
“I’m trying to move forward,” he says.
Though he lost his show and canceled plans to open two restaurants in Florida, the married star still has his fans.
“I’ve had thousands of e-mails supporting me, and I am truly grateful,” he tells Us.
Next up? “Maybe another TV show. I have a couple of things in development,” he dishes, including doing more charity work with the military (he once schooled U.S. Navy chefs).
“I’m human and I do make mistakes,” he says. “It’s liberating having this behind me.”
