My minister and his wife are hosting a 'new members' picnic tonight. Trish and I are new members, so we'll be there. (I think the whole church will be too, but I'm not sure. That info wasn't on the invitation.)

So it's a picnic. I've made 6 loafs of Amish Friendship bread today and a big batch of fruit salad.

First my sister asked if we're taking food. I said yes, it didn't say not to.

Then she said, 'We're not taking the fruit salad are we?'

Yes, we are. It's a huge bowl of fruit.

Then she says, 'well it is a lot of fruit. I guess we'll have to take some of it. But not all of it. Maybe half.'

Then she asked. "how much bread are you taking? One?'

I said at least two. Maybe one for a hostess gift for the minister's wife for hosting the picnic. (I have 6 loafs. (I have 6 loaves. We can't eat all that. I'll have to freeze some of what I keep as it is. )

She just rolled her eyes like she thought that was stupid.

It's the same thing every time there is an event and we need to take food. We're not taking that are we? We're not taking much of it are we?

It's a church event to celebrate us becoming members. Why be selfish over the food? I don't get it. And what's wrong with taking the hostess an extra loaf just for her and her family?

Jan

edited to add, well dang! I thought I was posting this in the Friday free for all! How'd that happen?
