I thought Busy Phillips (ER, FREAKS AND GEEKS), who guested a few seasons ago, would have been a good choice to play the mom.

Actress wise, I would have also accepted Rebecca Budig or Danica McKellar.

Character-wise, I still have hope for the coatcheck girl from way back in season 1.

A smart twist would be to have Cobie Smulders (Robin) play a dual role. We've already established Robin isn't the mother, but this could be kinda funny.

What we really should wonder, though, is why HIMYM hasn't tapped Vanessa Marcil for the part?
