I wasn't blown away but I think it has potential. So, I'll watch a few more episodes to see if it grows on me. I like Connie Britton's Rayna so that's a good start. I'm neutral on country music so that is neither a draw or a deterrent.
I do like the idea of a woman who has been successful for 20 years having to reinvent herself because she is older and the music industry has changed so much. That theme reminds me so much of A Visit from the Goon Squad except that book was set in the changing world of rock music instead of country. I bet Callie Khouri read and loved that book though. The mix of politics and the music industry makes me think of Robert Altman's great film also titled Nashville, another good potential influence and inspiration. And I continue to hope for a good show from the woman who created Thelma & Louise.
Hooking into Rayna is a good start.
