get certain fanbases to vote and riled up. Just like how they choose a 3rd celeb to be "in danger" on results night, even though they aren't in the bottom.

It would not surprise me at all if the producers are in the judges ears prior to the show about voting trends and what they'd like to see happen with the scoring.
