Every year I take on a student teacher. I feel its my duty to help cultivate and train young teachers. All teachers have to do "x" number of hours in order to get certified.
On Tuesday I got this student teacher who apparently thought it was a good idea to tell ME how to do my job. He literally criticized my teaching methods. *Literally*. Oh and he corrected me when I was answering a student's question. I was super pissed. I told him not to interrupt me and not to correct me, that it was unprofessional and that it suggested to the students that I lacked credibility. He got all huffed and stewed for a period and then approached me again saying that now he doesn't know when it's appropriate to correct me, even if I'm wrong. I had to tell him "Never is it appropriate." And he goes "but aren't you going to correct me if *I'm* wrong?" and I said, "yes, because they are MY students and it is MY class and I'm accountable to them."
Today my kids were asking about him (he was off today for his school) and one girl commented that when I was teaching she'd look at him and said that he had the strangest look on his face and she wanted to yell at him "MISS IS A GOOD TEACHER. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!" This is completely without me even prompting her. So clearly the kids have caught up on his BS. I can't wait until he has at them. Let's see how well you do, Mr. Know-it-all.
