finished cleaning up after Irene (August 2011), $12,000+ later (out of his own pocket). We still have silt and sand (not a big deal). We don't have our winter wood delivered yet (my fault; I just didn't have the $$ scraped together in time). I think this time our septic system will not survive. (Yes, we rent but our landlords will not pay the $10K-plus, I'm sure.)
But there are so many so much worse off than we are.
Batteries, water and gin. Those are the top three items on my list.
So much for 100-year storms. This will be the fourth one for us since 1997.
