so that the students can access the reading material for that week online just in case they need to. I have to say that the kids are concentrating on reading. They do a 45-minute block of reading in the afternoon. They do spelling tests and sentence reviews and most of them read very well. My daughter is in the 2nd grade and was tested at the end of the 1st grade and the test showed she was already reading at early 3rd grade.

The other thing is that they do timed reading paragraphs at home three times per day. I'm amazed at how well my daughter is reading. They made changes down here to improve all the kids' reading skills and even though it's a pain to do the homework, it certainly pays off. We're also going to be doing short book reports this year to prepare for next year. Homework, lots and lots of homework.
