Huh? I mean, I like Gabriel, but he's, umm, not very attractive LOL. And there's been NO subtext there on the show. Or at least, if there was, it's gone completely over my head. But I've never read any of it, so I can't really speak to it, I guess.
Nope, no smoldering glances or near touches or anything to suggest to me that there might be ANYTHING there beneath the surface. Though I may not ship Dean/Castiel, there's been looks or dialogue that makes me understand why others do.
And it does feel like sloppy seconds for Sam to keep him occupied and out of Dean's hair:)
*this* Also, a lot of people subscribe to the theory that Gabriel and Castiel are full brothers (not just in the sense of both being angels...I'm not going to pretend to understand how family ties work in Heaven, other than the Archangels being true brothers), which would make it a nice parallel to Sam and Dean and make sure the angels have one of their "own kind" sitting there at the Thanksgiving table every year.
In those fics, Dean may get the cute angel, but Sam can brag his angel has more powers.
