A roommate who paid with a bad check, and then moved out in the middle of the night with no notice. I told her repeatedly that if she would just pay for the month she lived there, that would be the end of it, but if I had to take her to court I would charge her for the months rent for lack of notice (which she agreed to in lui of my asking for a security deposit).

I won the two months rent plus court costs. She didn't pay, so I put a lein on her car and the day the car was supposed to be aucitioned, she gave me the money.

When a case is lost, paying is not voluntary, it is mandatory. If they don't pay, you can put a lein on their car or home until they do.
