On the blog Ask a Manager, there was apparenty a letter about a company that gave all employees their birthday off every year, along with a cake and a gift card.
this blog is GOLD! GOLD@@!!
They wrote in to the blog because there was a woman on the team whose birthday was February 29th. And she only got the cake/card/day off on years that included February 29th. The person who wrote in said "how do I get her to stop complaining about this policy?" and the owner of the blog was aghast. Confirmed that this was an unfair policy. Told them to reconsider. (Spoiler: They did not.)

You can see in the comments that most people are just continuing to feel very terrible for the Leap Day Birthday Girl.
