derision any time I declared "When I'm an adult, I'm going to <fill in the blank>. She was the one who just kind of laughed when I and my three best high school friends were deep into the second wave of Monkeemania and swore we'd ALWAYS love the band and go to their concerts and collect collectibles. We even vowed to attend the funeral of the first Monkee who died (that would be Davy Jones, back in 2012)...none of us did that. Although one of the others, my (then) friend "A", still follows the group and is apparently well known enough to Mickey Dolenz to appear in casual pictures with him that she then posts online. I'm not terribly surprised...not only was she the biggest fan of the four of us back then, she also has the kind of personality that when she gets into an interest, she goes HARD.

The one I think about the most is when I was a teen and waking up around noon on Saturdays (my only day to sleep in since we went to church Sunday mornings). I was never up before 11:00 AM on a Saturday and would occasionally sleep as late as 1:00 (any later and Mom would barge in, worried that I was sick). I would tell her that when I grew up, I was going to sleep in till noon all the time and she would laugh and tell me no I wouldn't...

Now if I'm in bed past, oh, 8:30 AM, my back starts to hurt 🙃
