I read that the original producers left when they found out that the idea the network pitched them was plagiarized and the network was being sued...and that David Chase said that he didn't quite get Northern Exposure. And it shows.

It isn't *bad* or unwatchable, but it's *different* and not as enjoyable. I can't describe how, but it is.

I still can't stand Maurice, which is funny as I liked Barry Corbin as the coach on One Tree Hill when I binged that last summer...
