Had I been out front, a neighbor might've called the cops on me. When I left, I struggled again to lock both the door and the deadbolt. Apparently I wasn't successful with the latter, but fortunately, bff was home before her sister (she lives only 11 doors down, on the same street) and had been tasked with feeding the kitties. She was able to properly lock the back door/deadbolt.
