I was intrigued when we were discovering why the customers were coming at night and checking out the mysterious ledgers. I was slightly less intrigued when we found out the customers were chasing immortality; I'm not sure what I was hoping the mystery would be but wanting to live forever is so...overdone, IMO. And then there was the girlfriend working at Google and obsessing over climbing the Google ladder...ugh. By the time the book descended into a love affair with fonts of all things, I was kind of over it. I wanted a book about a bookstore to be more about the love of books and less about everything it was about.
