to the previous Saturday with Sis and BIL (The Spot on Lakeshore [link] ) and then drove to Lakeview Cemetery (near both Coventry and Little Italy on Cleveland's east side) to see Daffodil Hill while the daffodils were still in bloom. It was a beautiful sight...and there were many people also enjoying it. While we were there, I asked bff if she'd mind me trying to locate a family plot where a bunch of Dad's ancestors are buried. She was down for that...I went to Lakeview's website and typed in Dad's maternal grandmother's name and got a section and grave number. Then I asked for directions...first we were sent towards a road inside the cemetery that was blocked off due to a burial in progress. Then we were directed to another section of the cemetery in the opposite direction that actually turned out to be the right section--don't know what Google was thinking beforehand. We wandered through quite a bit of the section with the family plot with no success, making jokes about finding names that were "close enough". I finally thought to check my phone again and got walking directions; after a few false starts, I finally located the correct plot. Which...was pretty much across the street from Daffodil Hill *sigh*. At least we got a good walk in...and I also discovered my relatives are buried fairly close to Ray Chapman, the Cleveland (then) Indians' shortshop who was killed by a pitch to the head in 1920. His grave is adorned with all sorts of baseball paraphernalia, and for some reason, there were a lot of pennies scattered atop the headstone.

We also drove right by the grave of Eliot Ness, which is set very close to the one road. Many famous people are buried in Lakeview Cemetery...famous people plus my relatives <g>.
