maybe 10 years ago. I was resistant--I didn't love the idea of strangers touching my feet (unless they were doctors) and I'm pretty ticklish. But I wound up really enjoying the experience and really REALLY enjoying how pretty my toenails were afterwards. When I was working, I'd strive for three pedicures a year: beginning of summer, mid summer, end of summer (I don't care what my toenails look like in the winter because nobody but me and maybe Dad sees them). Last year, I had a late beginning of summer pedicure then did my own toenails the rest of the summer. I hate painting my own toenails...I can barely reach and I have trouble seeing what the baby toes look like. But that's the price I pay, or rather don't pay, for being unemployed.

Over the years, my toenails have been hot pink, bright blue (my favorite...and the color I chose the one and only time I got a professional pedicure in winter due to bff really wanting one and wanting company), dark red, lilac and, once, alternating turquoise and coral (it was very beachy, which was exactly what I was going for). Due to my toenails having some discoloration due to the aging process, sheer colors are out. I'm considering maybe a baby blue...apparently that's popular this spring.

The time I got my toenails painted two different colors, my stylist told me I could've chosen 10 different colors had I wanted. Bff joking told him not to tell me that or I'd be there all day picking out colors and getting each toe done in a different shade <g>.
