that bff and her sister (the mom of this niece) were in some sort of strange war over MY time...bff's sis was convinced I'd be watching both of their cats plus bff's dog and cat for the weekend of the graduation while bff was equally convinced I was GOING to the graduation, even though I had no desire to. Not that it mattered what *I* wanted...it was all about bff being peeved at her sister, for quite some time now, about trying to control bff's life and expecting everyone to do her (sister's) whim. I finally told bff that I'd go with whatever the niece wanted. If for some odd reason she wanted me at the graduation (I don't feel we're that close), I'd go. I had assumed another of her 8000 relatives would want one of the tickets the niece has (6 total) but the niece texted me last week to invite me to the graduation, so I guess I'm going to the graduation.

I think I'll also buy my dress this weekend. I'm thinking a maxi dress. I rarely wear dresses or skirts (I wear pants, specifically, pajama pants that look like dress pants :P), but make exceptions for maxi dresses. A MUST in the Sacramento summer. Maybe with a cute bolero type jacket.

EXACTLY what I was thinking I'd wear to the graduation! I actually love skirts and dresses but in the summer, my "formal" wardrobe is all maxi dresses or ankle length skirts and either a short sleeved top or a dressy tank top or shell.

I'm thinking that on the Wednesday evening before the wedding, I'll go in for a Mani-Pedi.

I was hoping for an appointment next week. I called thinking they'd be super busy this time of year with proms and graduations, and I wasn't sure I could get two appointments at the same time (for bff and me), and if I COULD, I thought it might be a long way off. I was shocked when they said they could get us in this afternoon. I'm thinking both bff and I being available any time helped.

I used to do them more often but $$, and I developed an allergy to gel polish (it messes up my nailbeds), so is it really worth it to get regular polish when I'll chip it in days?

Ooof. I've never tried gel polish. I love professional pedicures and they last for literal months on me (I only wind up getting a new one when too much of my nail bed is showing at the bottom <g>), but I refuse to pay for a professional manicure. I've had two...neither lasted any longer than an at-home manicure and the woman doing the first one had attitude for miles, so it wasn't a pleasant experience. I only got both of them because I had gift cards.

So I do need my cuticles trimmed. I just get clear polish now. it gives a classic look, and you can easily repair on your own.

True!
