We had scheduled a few days at the beach with them in August. This was done late last fall/early winter; after discussing it with them.
After the devasting text message last week, we reached out to some friends to see if they wanted to join us instead. While interested, the dates we had didn't work with their schedule.
I'm all for canceling the beach reservation (done through VRBO) now so I can get my $$ back and the host has time to get a new booking. I don't want to take the chance that daughter doesn't work through whatever is going on or put any more pressure on her. We can always try the beach trip another year once things are talked out and our relationship is better.
Hubby insists on reaching out to daughter now to try and work things out before I cancel the beach place.
I'm trying to give her the time/space she said she needed.
