Bff's brother has written and illustrated a children's book:
Harry the Horse That Could Not Hear: A Story of Hearing Loss by Michael DeMonte. It's a story based on his own experience with hearing loss...anyways, as I mentioned in my post to CanaryFan98, I am not going to buy the book because of both price and having no one to give it to, but I still wanted to help. She said I could leave a review on Amazon even if I didn't buy the book there, and she's technically correct...but when I tried to leave a review (she'd brought her copy to dinner the other day and I read it between ordering and getting our food), it told me I wasn't eligible because I'm neither a Prime member nor have I spent $25+ this year on Amazon. Which is again not technically true...I've spent way more than $25 in 2024 on Amazon but I always buy a gift card at Giant Eagle (local grocery chain) which gives me points towards either cheaper gas at their gas stations (Get Go) or cheaper groceries.
Anyways, if anyone meets the criteria for leaving a review on Amazon and would be so inclined to do so, here's a link to the book It really is a charming story of a horse who stops playing with his friends in the pasture because he can no longer hear them and follow their conversations. His friends eventually learn the truth and tell him they thought he no longer WANTED to play with them and they assure him they'll still be friends with Harry whether he can hear or not. The illustrations are really lovely too. My poor bff...almost all of her siblings have a degree of artistic talent--when she was growing up, her siblings' drawings and paintings adorned several surfaces of the home. But while she's an excellent crafter and has made many beautiful things, drawings and paintings aren't among them.
