It's a really good celebrity memoir. I tend to like those, too. Hers and the ones by Anthony Bourdain are my favorites. I haven't read any in a while, though - I think the last one was Constance Wu's and I didn't finish it because it was overdue at the library. It was good but more a series of essays than a true overarching memoir.
Civilizations by Laurent Binet B The idea was so much better than the execution, which is why I rated it higher. It’s an alternate history where the Incas invade Europe after 1492.
Ooh, that sounds interesting. I like alternate histories.
Box Office Poison: Hollywood’s Story in a Century of Flops by Tim Robey B A collection of many of Hollywood’s box office bombs. I always enjoy reading about these types of failures.
I need to find this one, it sounds right up my alley!
The C-List
The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson C+ This was supposed to be a real story! At times some horrible writing with weird exclamation points! I ended up skimming a lot of it! (Yes, I did the exclamation points on purpose!)
LOL. Since most of it has been debunked as total garbage I'm not surprised the book wasn't good. The actual DeFeo murders story is so sad but definitely a better story than the made up crap those hucksters put out.
As for my list, I got nothing. I have a stack of books on my nightstand but for the most part I just scroll tiktok when I get in bed. I've been carrying around The Great Gatsby for probably a month and keep saying I'm going to read it - I have seen the movie and saw the musical in June so I thought hey maybe I'll read the book finally and I just can't even get myself started.
