ever read any of The Cat Who mysteries by Lilian Jackson Braun? You might like them...after the first four, they move to a very quirky town 400 miles north of everywhere, and Koko the Cat doesn't physically talk but he does communicate in a cat way with his owner Qwilleran. I definitely read them in high school for the townsfolk, not the mysteries. I digress.
The only Alice Hoffman books I've read are the ones in the Practical Magic series, and she is definitely a great writer. I'm glad your lowest book was a "B"! :)
