did experiments, seeing if she could get ground feeders to eat off the ground, and it worked.

And water...never make it more than an inch high or the birdies can drown.

LOTS of advice. She also provides advice on how one can (somewhat) protect them from predators. How to deal with rats (rats love California, jeez) and squirrels raiding feeders. But, usually, nature takes its course and you have to let it be.

She also documents the types of birds that come to her yard during our wildfires. That's when she'll get visitors one would normally see further up in north state.
