Mostly because her rope was literally burning before the flame -- which she had gotten pretty tall -- bent away from the it via the wind. I've had a day or two to absorb it, but I haven't seen anyone, including Jeff, Teeny or Sam -- say the wind didn't decide it. They just seem less bothered by it than I am. But that's probably because I fundamentally do not like the final four fire-making challenge and I have enjoyed this show significantly less since it started.

If you've seen someone with a breakdown, though, point me at it. I'm open to it.

Teeny's fire wasn't HIGH enough. She used all her husk to get the fire started and didn't add in enough sticks to make the fire TALL. if she had added more sticks, she would have burned through the string before the wind blew the fire in the opposite direction.

She could have built it higher faster for sure -- but unless I'm losing my mind, it was high enough to burn the rope before Sam got his to that height -- so that's why I feel like the wind is what ultimately cost her the wind. Though at least Sam had actually made himself competitive. I keep seeing it get

With no wind, Sam STILL would have had that opening - it just would have been a lot smaller window.

I guess I think that window is too small. Her rope was burning and if the flame had held she still had sticks to keep building. It's edited, too, so I am also drawing from Sam saying he was stunned at how much the wind played a role when he watched it and he was lucky he sat where he did.

Hubby and I talked about this at great length last night while debating the benefit of the fire-making challenge.

Heh. How does he feel about it?

You know what I'd like to see? Jeff surprise the next group of castaways by announcing there would NOT be 3 at the final, but it would go back to the original 2.

I'm trying to remember the last time it was a final two> they HAVE done that -- like the first Fans vs. Favourites, that's what costs Cirie the win, probably.

Imagine all the contestants going into the game thinking it would be 3, and then finding out at the last minute it's only 2? Fantastic tv.

Heh. Can we ALSO get rid of the fire stuff? Because man, do I think it makes the game worse.
