I got lucky; there were several professors teaching HFE and the others were assigning dry, dull, dusty "classics" (a lot of ancient Greek and Roman stuff plus some "modern" English writers from the 1700s) but Dr. P preferred books from the 20th century. One of the books we read was Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, and I really enjoyed it. Years later, I read A Spool of Blue Thread and enjoyed that as well. I need to read more of AT's oeuvre
