I rewatched both I Know What You Did Last Summer films a couple years ago with NO memory of the book, and I think teen me was a bit more outraged at the changes from the book. I wonder what the new one coming out this summer will be like...

It's just so weird to read about teens playing c.d.'s and the cell phones not being smart in a book that was written in the 1970s.

At any rate, if I come across a version that hadn't been updated, I might re-read it just to see. But I re-read a Caroline B. Cooney book a couple years ago that just didn't live up to how preteen/teen me remembered it, so I sorta think it might be better to live in the memories. I discovered R.L. Stine/Fear Street in 5th grade, and I sorta knew they weren't the greatest but loved them...and that was when I read Lois Duncan and Caroline B. Cooney (Diane Hoh was another one!)
