Most of the free events have around 12-15 participants, so I don't like my odds, even with folks cancelling. All the classes were either scheduled for the evening or a Saturday afternoon; I'm guessing more people are available at those times than earlier times, hence their popularity. Plus where else can you go and learn a craft without having to pay a cent, not even for supplies? It's one of the many great things about our local libraries but I wish it wasn't so hard to get into an event you wish to attend. Not that anyone asked <g> but...if I were the people in charge of these programs at the library, I'd limit how many one person can attend in a year. I've heard it tends to be the same people over and over, which lends credence to my theory (and my aunt's) that library staff and those they know get first crack at seats at these events.
Among the upcoming programs offered this time around are a couple "paint and sip" nights, a beginner's abstract art event where they walk you through creating abstract art (sounds a little counterintuitive; if it's "abstract", then there's really no rules to follow, yes?), a program showing you how to recreate a Georgia O'Keefe painting, a "paint with spices" class that sounded particularly fun (and would probably smell divine), a Shibori dyeing class, a button craft and others.
