at how NOT busy the store was) and was weighing my turkey options. It's just Dad and me, and cooking most large meats is a) too much* and b) a little intimidating. I've never cooked a whole turkey and have no desire to, thanks to how complicated it seems, what with the brining and when to take it out to thaw and HOW to thaw it, etc.

* I make an exception for pork butts. I toss a 3-4 pound butt in the slow cooker overnight, shred it the next day and freeze a significant portion for later

Anyways, I considered a turkey breast but I just couldn't justify spending $30+ on one. Next, I considered a tenderloin, but the only ones I could find in the store I was in were already pre-seasoned and already way too salty for Dad's dietary requirements. I ultimately landed on turkey breast chops. I've never seen such a thing before, and tbh, they were still kind of expensive (2 pounds of chops were just over $9), but they were unseasoned and pretty much just the right amount of turkey for Dad and me, especially since neither of us love turkey enough to want to eat it for a week.

And then I got out of the store, pretty satisfied with my shopping trip, and realized I had forgotten to get onions and celery for my stuffing 😡
